Working on Cars Around Cherry Street

Cherry Street is the stretch of East 15th Street between Peoria and Utica. It is a narrow, busy district with restaurants and shops close to the kerb and a farmers market that fills the area on Saturday mornings.

For mobile repair that creates a specific problem: there is often nowhere safe to work on 15th itself. Parking is tight, the traffic is close, and a car with its hood up on that stretch is a hazard. The residential streets a block north or south are a different matter, with proper room and no through traffic. When you call, tell us exactly where the car is and we will tell you whether to move it first.

What Goes Wrong Around Cherry Street

The housing around here is older, and so are a lot of the driveways and parking pads, which is worth knowing because a car that needs lifting has to be on firm level ground. A cracked or sloping driveway is not somewhere we can safely put a jack.

As for the faults, batteries and brakes again, for the same reason as the rest of Midtown: short journeys and a lot of stopping. Cars parked on 15th during a Saturday market also sit in full sun for hours, and heat soak is what finishes off a battery that was already weak.

If Your Car Will Not Start on 15th

Hazards on, and if it will move at all, get it off 15th and onto a side street where there is room. If it will not move, call 918-918-4749 and tell us the block you are on, because access there decides what we can do at the kerb.

Cherry Street Questions

Can you work on 15th Street itself?
Sometimes, but rarely comfortably. The safer answer is usually a side street a block away, and we will say so when you call.

What about Saturday during the market?
The area is much busier and parking is scarce. We can still come out, but expect to be directed to a quieter street nearby.

My driveway is old and uneven. Does that matter?
For anything needing a jack, yes. A jack needs firm, level ground. We will look at it and tell you honestly if it is not safe.
